27 years ago, one of the fascinating photographers I met was George A. Covington.
He was born legally blind with 20/400 vision in both eyes.
Aiming his camera towards your voice, he would make a Polaroid instant photo of you.
He would hold the small Polaroid print close to the side of his good eye, using a magnifying loop and moving it back and forth could scan it to ’see’ what you look like.
He literally photographed to see.
Eastman Kodak has a good online profile of George, here.
Photography provides George his only way to ’see’ the world!
It is important to understand that people need to photograph for different reasons.
Only then will you start to understand the meanings behind their images as well as your own.
Try taking some photos like George did and then look closely at them to see your world in a new way.
